[Marco and the Future.]

Marco arrived in the future the hard way, one second at a time. He was disappointed.

The future did not have very much shiny clothing. There were no personal jetpacks, much less rocket ships. You couldn't eat food in pill form.

This made Marco very angry. He called the United States Naval Observatory because they worked with time and seemed most likely to know whether the future was late or had been cancelled entirely.

A man with a deep voice answered the phone. "Hello," he said. This was exactly the same greeting that people had used in the past, which infuriated Marco even more.

"I would like to talk to someone about the future," said Marco. "It seems to be missing."

The man with the deep voice said something about not making prank phone calls to the United States military at a time like this and hung up.

Marco scowled. He picked up the phone again. This time he tried NASA. He got the same response. He tried the Whitehouse. He tried the UN Secretary General's office. No one took him seriously.

"I'll teach them a lesson," thought Marco. "I'll teach them all. But how?"

There was a beeping sound. Marco looked at his wrist. "Oh," he exclaimed.

He made a mental note to plan his revenge on the world, and then walked to the kitchen to take his daily dose of nanobots.
